Our story

Money Dashboard was founded by Gavin Littlejohn and is based in Edinburgh. The service was first released in 2010 to help people take control of their finances, and help empower them to make the right financial decisions in life.

Continuous improvement

In 2012 we re-launched “to help you manage your spending in incredible detail” (as stated by TheNextWeb.com). By listening to our users' wants and needs the Money Dashboard service went through a complete design overhaul, which came with a host of new ground-breaking functionality.

The result was what we see today; an intuitive application. The benefits of which are real for our users - empowering them with their own data to make the right financial decisions, but without making them work hard for the privilege.

Recent Investment

In late 2014, Money Dashboard received a further £2.7m investment led by Calculus Capital, a specialist in creating and managing private equity funds for individuals. This increase in funds has helped us to further enhance our existing service and technology platform. This has included the creation of a fully mobile responsive website, so our users can enjoy Money Dashboard on the move, not to mention a host of new product features.

Gavin Littlejohn - CEO

I am the founder of Money Dashboard.

People have to work too hard to make sense of their money and find better value. Few enjoy working on their personal finances. I don’t. That’s why I decided to build the company. The use of dashboards to display information is not new. I’m told that they first came to prominence in early motorbikes where riders had to get information very quickly so they could make decisions.

Today few have access to proper advice. You’ll have to find your own way. I hope Money Dashboard helps you get the information you need quickly and that you will be able to act on the decisions you make more easily. Many markets have not evolved to put the customer first. That is why we all get so frustrated with how difficult it is to get things done with our suppliers.

As CEO I get involved in lots of things. Some of them are more fun than others. I like working with the product teams on thinking through customer journeys. We are going to keep building our platform and adding new features. Hopefully they will deliver on the promise to turn your data into easily understood information. The ambition is to put our User at the centre of the universe (not corporations who sell products).

Out with work – not too much time then – I enjoy socialising and spending time with friends and family. In years gone by I used to be a boxer and played rugby, but have been an entrepreneur for really my whole career and was a pioneer of the Software as a Service business model.
