Let us put your mind at rest by answering the key questions that are bound to be running through your mind.
How safe is it to give Money Dashboard my banking and credit card details?
Nobody at Money Dashboard will have access to your bank account or credit details. Nor will the Money Dashboard tool store your bank account details. The only place your account details and transaction details come together is on your desktop when you log on.
After the initial storage, your details will only ever be transmitted to your bank in an encrypted format. The information is securely fed through Yodlee, the financial aggregator system, so that you can see all your transactions whenever you log on to your Money Dashboard.
Yodlee is renowned for its security and its clients include such massive names as the Bank of America, Paypal and the US gold reserve at Fort Knox.
The banking details you give us will be stored securely and housed in an Internet server hosting space that provides enhanced physical security, fire protection and electronic shielding.
How do I stop someone else logging into my Money Dashboard?
The Money Dashboard personal finance tool uses two factor authentication to provide you with extra security. That means you have to prove two different things in order to access your personal Money Dashboard. When you sign into Money Dashboard you will be asked to enter your username and password. Before you get final access to the Money Dashboard service, you will also be asked for your security word that you setup when you first registered. Only you know this code and your password. No Money Dashboard employee has access to your password. No one can access your account unless you provide someone with this information.
Will the banks let me give you my passwords?
Many banks are making changes to their terms and conditions and their advice and guidelines, to take into account the use of secure personal finance software tools. After all, it's in their best interest to make sure you manage your money as best you can.
What happens if the security of the Money Dashboard site is ever breached?
Money Dashboard has been built as a read-only site. That means it's impossible for you or anyone else to make any changes to your bank account through Money Dashboard’s personal finance software. The only place you can actually move money or change any bank account details is through the secure website of your bank.
You banking details aren’t stored by the site and the only place your transactional data and personal data come together is on your desktop when you log on.
How is my data protected during transmission?
The transmission of data is protected using industry recognised encryption standards. Users' passwords are transmitted and stored in encrypted format at all times.
What happens to all my transactional data once it has been downloaded to my Money Dashboard?
The Money Dashboard tool will download and store your transaction data on an ongoing basis, but it will make sure that no personal details are attached. That means that even in the unlikely event that the security of the Money Dashboard site were to be compromised, all a hacker could see would be details of a series of bank transactions, with no record of the individual or bank account that made them.
