How does it work?
Money Dashboard allows you to link your various internet enabled bank and credit card accounts into one place, making managing your money quick and easy. Once each account is linked to Money Dashboard your transaction types will be automatically grouped and categorised into various tags, such as ‘electricity’ and ‘groceries.’ Any transactions that have not been automatically tagged for you can be tagged by you with the minimum of effort. You can even train Money Dashboard to remember your preferences. Once your transactions are tagged you can enjoy the many benefits of having your accounts in one place with powerful financial tools to help you get the most from your money.

I want to start using Money Dashboard, but I’m concerned about giving you my bank details.
Money Dashboard has invested heavily to create a secure access environment. We have had a full external audit of our security arrangements by Security Alliance (global provider of high quality, award winning security testing and monitoring services), that provides similar services for banks and governments. Money Dashboard does not receive or ever store your online banking credentials (username, password, etc.)
This information is encrypted as it is typed and is securely transmitted to our aggregation provider, Yodlee in a fully-encrypted form. Yodlee provide banking aggregation services to many of the world’s leading banks and are responsible for the tracking and management of over $3 trillion per day. Over 300 leading financial institutions and portals offer Yodlee-powered solutions to millions of consumers worldwide. Money Dashboard will then store your account balance and transactions in an encrypted database, but never your internet banking login credentials.
My bank advises not to provide internet banking credentials to any third party.
Banks rightly encourage their internet banking customers to be careful to prevent fraud and to protect their passwords from misuse. There is a clear distinction between the misuse of passwords, and using them in a secure environment to allow you to better manage and understand your own money. The transactions are your transactions. The balances are your balances. The data managed by the bank on your behalf is your data. Money Dashboard provides a service designed to empower you to get the most out of your data, by helping you to see the true view of your financial life.
Some banks explicitly acknowledge the benefit of aggregation services, such as ours, in their Terms and Conditions and therefore directly permit aggregation. Others do not, however, this does not necessarily mean they do not want you to aggregate your accounts. Some banks, perhaps understandably, will be reluctant to endorse any external organisation unless they have undertaken rigorous checks on them. Given the international nature of aggregation, this is a near impossible task for banks.
The terms and conditions of my bank state that I should not give my details out to anyone.
Some UK banks have terms which do not make a distinction between aggregation services and misuse by providing your details through non-secure portals or to other people personally.
We are developing relationships within the banking industry to increase transparency and understanding in this area.
