Last month, Money Dashboard has been presenting the open beta product at technology conferences in the UK and around Europe.
Money Dashboard takes security and privacy very seriously and it is at the core of everything we do.
Budgeting is vital if you want to keep on top of your finances. If you enjoy planning and like to set a budget, then you’re already on the right road to financial security.
The Money Dashboard personal finance software tool will simply make it easier to get there.
If you’re more likely to just shove things on a credit card and worry about whether or not you can afford to be spending at a later date, then the Money Dashboard tool could help you change your wicked ways. That’s because it makes it so simple to set budgets, monitor them and adjust them if necessary, that budgeting could become your driving passion.
Setting up a budget
When you log on to your Money Dashboard for the first time we’ll ask you to tell us your monthly income. Alternatively you can ask the system to calculate it for you, based on your transactions, which will be downloaded.
We will also ask you to create a cash budget, or we can calculate it automatically from your cash withdrawals.
Finally we will ask you to set a monthly budget for each type of transaction you make. All your transactions are tagged and categorised into relevant Groups such as Household or Lifestyle expenses. That means you can decide how much you aim to spend on clothes, fuel, travel, rent, the mortgage, etc, and how much you hope to save.
Checking your budget
Your Budgeting view will then show you exactly how much you have allocated to save and spend over the month, and how much money you will have left if you stick to your plan, which could become savings too.
It includes a summary chart which shows you the budget you have set for each Group. And a table provides you with a breakdown of each type of transaction within the group, so you can see what your plan is and adjust it if necessary.
You can change all of these budgets at any point in time. So if your rent or mortgage goes up, or you need to cut back on going out, it’s simple.
Sticking to your budget
There’s no point setting a budget if you’ve no idea if you’re sticking to it or not. So we’ve made sure you can see exactly where you’re heading all of the time. Your Monthly Tracker monitors your transactions against your planned budget, so you always have a clear view of your finances and can take action if you ever hit the hard shoulder.
